The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most famous wildlife sanctuary and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, synonymous with the Great Migration. Its endless plains are home to an extraordinary array of wildlife, including the Big Five, and boast the highest concentration of predators in Africa. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti offers exceptional year-round game viewing, with diverse landscapes ranging from open grasslands to acacia woodlands and riverine forests. It’s a place of dramatic natural cycles, where life and death play out on an epic scale.

The best time to visit the Serengeti depends on what you want to see. For the Great Migration’s river crossings, July to October is ideal. For the calving season and lush green landscapes, January to March is excellent. Game viewing is good year-round.
Typical Park Fees: USD 70-80 per person per day (subject to change by TANAPA). Activity Cost Notes: Hot air balloon safaris are a premium add-on (approx. USD 550-650). Walking safaris are typically offered in private conservancies adjacent to the park. Accommodation Price Tiers: Mid-range to Ultra-Luxury: from $350 – $1500+ pppn.
Access to the Serengeti is typically via flights from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to various airstrips within the park. Road transfers are also possible from Arusha, often combined with other northern circuit parks like Ngorongoro.
