The Village Health & Education Initiative operates in rural areas bordering the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where access to basic services is often limited. The project focuses on two critical pillars: improving health outcomes by providing mobile clinics, health education, and essential medical supplies, and enhancing educational opportunities by building classrooms, supplying learning materials, and supporting teacher training. By investing in human well-being and future generations, the initiative aims to create sustainable solutions that benefit both people and wildlife, reducing dependency on resource exploitation within protected areas.

The initiative has established three permanent health clinics, significantly reducing child mortality and improving maternal health in participating villages. Over 500 children now attend upgraded schools with better resources. Through health awareness campaigns, there has been a noticeable decrease in preventable diseases. The project actively engages village elders and women’s groups in decision-making processes, ensuring that interventions are culturally appropriate and meet genuine community needs.
Many tours in Tanzania’s northern circuit pass near villages supported by this initiative. You can ask your tour operator about opportunities for community visits or inquire about direct donation channels. Supporting local crafts and businesses also contributes directly to the economic well-being of these communities
