Amboseli National Park

Destination Overview

Amboseli National Park is a jewel in Kenya’s crown, famous for its large herds of free-ranging elephants and iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, which rises majestically across the border in Tanzania. The park’s unique ecosystem, fed by underground springs from Kilimanjaro’s ice cap, creates lush oases that attract abundant wildlife, even during dry seasons. It’s a prime location for close-up elephant encounters, as well as sightings of lions, giraffes, zebras, and various bird species. The flat, dusty plains and scattered acacia woodlands provide excellent photographic opportunities, especially with the snow-capped mountain as a backdrop.

Optimal Safari Seasons

The best time to visit Amboseli is during the dry seasons (January-February and June-October) when wildlife concentrates around permanent water sources, making them easier to spot. The clear skies during these months also offer the best chances for unobstructed views of Mount Kilimanjaro.vvv
